ANNOUNCEMENT: THE PINE TAVERN HAS BEEN SOLD!
Our Story
Traditional Blue Ridge Cuisine
The historic Pine Tavern was started in 1927, with old state Route 221 running behind the restaurant. Originally, the Pine Lodge served meals in their lobby. The fare was similar to what you can find in today’s Pine Tavern. Most of our recipes are from Mama Nell, my grandmother. These recipes were tested by me every Sunday for over 25 years in a small town, much like Floyd, in the shadow of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. We hope that the same feeling of family, hospitality, history, and heritage is imparted to our guests.

What People are Saying

“We Adore The Pine Tavern”
“We adore the Pine Tavern and the folks who run it. They have a delightful menu but family style offerings is the way to go. Their fried chicken is delicious but the tender roast beef and country ham are family favorites. Since we moved away from the Floyd area our visits are less frequent however we always stop in the Fall on our way back from doing our annual Blue Ridge Parkway drive. This year was different than any previous visit. I was very anxious about eating indoors during the pandemic. I was so relieved that they took reservations and when we arrived there was appropriate distance between tables. The tables and chairs were immaculately clean (as always). All of the patrons adhered to the mask order until seated. Thank you Pine Tavern for being there to help us feel safe keeping the yearly tradition alive.”

“Tasted the best I have ever had.”
“Wonderful chicken. Tasted the best I have ever had. It is deep fried in pressure cooker. Can’t do that at home. The place was clean and inviting. Prices reasonable. Definitely will return.“

“The owner really knows his way around the kitchen.”
“Great table service and the owner really knows his way around the kitchen. I had the lasagna and a side salad, steaming hot biscuits with home made preserves. Wait staff was on top of their game, refills of drinks and biscuits without having to ask. Food was steaming hot and fresh.“
Bill Hampton

“It doesn’t get much better than this”
“We came here at the recommendation of the hotel owner next door and we were VERY impressed. The meatloaf and the chicken and dumplings were both outstanding, service was great, and the meal was a very good value. We probably wouldn’t have gone to any other restaurant while in town if we could have. If you’re looking for good old fashioned country cooking it doesn’t get much better than this.“
Nathan Wallace

“Gem tucked away in the mountains”
“The Pine Tavern Restaurant is a gem tucked away in the mountains of Virginia. We got the family style lunch which was delicious and affordable. We got salad, mashed potatoes, fried chicken, roast beef, smoked pinto beans, sweet cabbage, biscuits, drinks, and dessert all included and as much as we wanted. The mashed potatoes and chicken were amazing. The waitress who helped us was one of the sweetest waitresses I’ve ever had! There’s plenty of parking in the back and the blue ridge parkway is close by if you want to see some pretty scenery after you eat.“
